Ranch Tours

Come experience our heritage Scottish Highland cattle and native grasslands in the beautiful northern Black Hills, South Dakota.
Group Of Highland Cattle

Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to view our treasured Scottish Highland cattle and our corner of SouthDakota’s Black Hills and prairie!

If you are coming to the Black Hills, please visit our ranch; experience our cattle and land personally. Not only will you get to play with, feed, and handle the fluffy cows and calves, but you will also be experiencing a piece of history that happened in South Dakota. In 1948, the Scottish Highland Breeders Association was created to collect, verify, preserve, and publish full blood pedigrees of Scottish Highland cattle. The very first Scottish Highland cattle registered in the United States came from Scotland to form a fold near Belvidere, South Dakota - about 150 miles east of our ranch. Some of the very first Highland cattle in the US were used for conservation purposes.

Our goal is to be guided by history and create a fold in Spearfish, South Dakota that can be genetically traced to the Highland cattle that were originally introduced to the region, forming the folds in South Dakota and eastern Montana. A collateral goal is use of grazing practices that enhance South Dakota’s grasslands.

No matter if you visited our website or have visited our ranch, we would very much enjoy hearing what you have to say on our comment page.
